Abstract

Human Resource Development (HRD) plays an important role in modern business management and is critical to the long-term competitiveness of an organization. This study uses a Malaysia-based oil and gas company as a case study to specifically examine four key components of HRD: training and development, organizational development, career development, and humanware development. The aim is to clarify how companies can use these practices to promote organizational growth and improve the quality of their workforce. This study focuses on the following two questions: (1) How does the company practice the four components of HRD? (2) How do these HRD practices effectively promote organizational competitive advantage and employee development? Accordingly, this study proposes a research objective, which is to analyze and clarify the company’s specific strategies and effectiveness in implementing the four components of HRD. The study mainly adopts a case study method to analyze the company's specific practices in depth through literature review and internal interviews. The study found that this institution has clear and specific measures in the four aspects of HRD, such as strengthening employees' knowledge and skills through online and offline training, promoting career planning and rotation plans, implementing the ESG strategy for organizational development, and innovative measures such as strengthening humanware development through digital platforms. These practices not only strengthen employees' personal growth, but also effectively promote the company's overall competitiveness. In addition, this study also proposes practical insights, namely that companies should adopt a comprehensive HRD strategy to achieve a positive interaction between employee growth and organizational goals. The results of this study can provide reference and inspiration for other companies to develop HRD strategies.
